This new FC President at Paschal HS in Texas is already making fundraising plans for next school year.
Tell us a bit about yourself: I’m in FCCLA, FIDM Fashion Club, and Lone Star Youth Chorus, an after school program. Fashion and singing are my life. I’m a very hands-on person, and I learned the ropes of fashion and singing at a young age. I learned how to create designs and use a sewing machine by myself. My grandmother knew how to knit and sew by hand, and she taught me how. I have a flare for fashion.
How did you get involved in Fashion Club? I met the fashion teacher, and she said that I couldn’t be in her fashion class freshman year because I had to take a prerequisite. Then, she told me about FIDM Fashion Club, so I joined it.
What’s the name of the President who’s leaving? Her name is Raquel Rodriquez. She’ll be attending FIDM next year to study Visual Communications.
How do you plan on making your club different now that you’re president? Get the newest recruits more involved with Fashion Club, and encourage them to get others to join. I’d also like to go places so they can show off their skills and have a fun time doing it.
What kinds of activities will you do at your Fashion Club meetings? Fundraising. The first idea I had in mind was after about a month of Fashion Club, we can try to recruit more people by having a small tutorial session showing them what we are about. We will show them DIYs, trends, designing, styling, and beauty tips. Other fundraising ideas I have include a bake sale, clothing drive, yard sale, and a trendy bracelet sale.
What is one of your proudest accomplishments? Getting sweepstakes for choir, for my freshman year (this year).
Do you have plans to attend FIDM? Yes, I’ll be going into the business of fashion merchandising or fashion design.
What’s your favorite thing in your wardrobe? My favorite thing in my closet is my sweater that I made with my grandmother. It was the first piece of clothing that really got me into the love of fashion.
