The FC President at Lake Stevens HS in Washington would like to one day source clothing from factories with livable wages for employees.

My friend and I decided that we wanted to start a Fashion Club to help the student body explore the different avenues of the fashion industry.

How did you get involved in Fashion Club at your high school? My high school originally did not have a Fashion Club or a fashion class. My friend and I decided that we wanted to start a Fashion Club to help the student body explore the different avenues of the fashion industry.

What kinds of activities do you do at your Fashion Club meetings? In the Fashion Club meetings at LSHS we do different projects such as trend forecasting by making trend boards, watching YouTube videos to learn how to make/do different activities such as sewing or drawing. We also bring in speakers from FIDM or other people from the fashion industry.

What is one of your proudest accomplishments? My proudest accomplishment so far has been my office last year as the Washington State President for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. I learned a great deal about leadership, serving others, and working as a team. These skills will help me in the fashion industry tremendously.

What’s a fashion trend you’re loving right now?
I am loving the trend of Forever21’s Now Girl. The whole tight but to-the-knee dresses are right up my alley. I enjoy showing off my curves while still being modest.

Who do you follow on Instagram and Pinterest, for fashion inspiration? On Instagram I just started following Up Close and Stylish @upcloseandstylish and I love her outfits! She is definitely who I am looking at right now as inspiration for my own Instagram! I also follow the accounts below for more inspiration:
Forever21 @forever21
Tess Christine @tesschristinexo
Runway Martini @runwaymartini
Raven Elyse @ravenelyse
Manhattan Girl @manhattan_girl
Chole & Marie-Lou Bartoli @bartolistyle

Do you have plans to attend FIDM? I plan on attending FIDM. During my junior year I participated in junior early admission and got accepted. Now to finish up the rest of the school year and my AA from a community college.

What are your career goals? My career goal is to stop the sourcing of clothes from slave workers in sweatshops, so that looking fabulous does not have to come at a price to anyone. I first realized my passion when I was a freshman in high school. I have always loved fashion, and knew that I wanted to design and be a part of the fashion industry but when I learned about modern day slavery I became determined to help end it. I plan to create a clothing company and source the clothing from factories with good working conditions and livable wages for the employees. My vision for these new factories is to compete with the sweatshops in the area so they close down. Then, as the awareness and demand for fair-trade clothing increases, all workers will be treated like human beings.

Anything else you’d like to share? If anyone has questions or would like to contact me, my Instagram handle is @k8t_ann and my email is kaellis01@gmail.com. I enjoy meeting new people and I could talk about fashion for days!
