West Ranch HS Spring Fashion Show
FC President Gina Davis designed the invitation, and has plans to attend FIDM this July.
I am Gina Davis, a senior and the FIDM Fashion Club President at West Ranch High School in Stevenson Ranch, California.
Our annual Spring Fashion show was March 8th. We had an amazing turnout—175 people attended the show, the most we’ve ever had! We even ran out of programs!!! It was a great show.
I loved putting this together not only because this is the biggest event we have, but because I love the feeling it gives others. It’s an opportunity for students to experience great self confidence, and feel this radiance when you have a crowd cheering you on at the show.
Anybody is allowed to model—we don't have tryouts because we want a variety of girls and guys. We offer to have girls do hair and makeup for those who don't normally wear makeup. These girls get to feel how beautiful they really are. That is my favorite part, seeing the joy this show brings to others.
As far as the clothing, we borrowed looks from Francesca’s, Dolled Up, Isshoes, and Styles for Less. We had 50 models total, including 11 male models, and up to two looks per model.
It was a fundraiser—we were raising money so that we can put on two fashion shows next year instead of just one like we did this year.
To ensure our show was a success I made sure models were receiving text messages weekly, our music manager was up to date, and that my council members were all on the same page. Good communication is key to being successful.
I also made sure I used all my resources and contacted anybody I felt could help with the show. I even designed the invitation. I will be attending FIDM this July for Visual Communications so I felt this was a great opportunity to show off my skills.
I am so proud of everyone who was involved in the show, and how successful it was!
