Ladue Horton Watkins HS FC President shares her Top 10 Spotify Playlist and talks about her personal style.
I would describe my style as classy with an edge and a bit of a protest statement. I love traditional silhouettes, but will add a unique accessory, color, or combine pieces that would not typically be worn together.
My favorite winter fashion trend is the statement coat. I like when a trend can be cute and wearable while serving another purpose, like keeping you warm.
On a regular day my favorite outfit is simple: a nice pair of high waist pants, an easy graphic T or print, a cute necklace, and earrings, then topped of with a fun jacket or blazer.
I love Kimora Lee Simmons as a designer and entrepreneur. I love all the revolutionaries like Coco Chanel, Dior, and Diane Von Furstenberg, but I feel Kimora Lee Simmons made her mark on my generation's ready to wear garments with Baby Phat. She was one of the first designers to have a household brand for young girls. Now I love how she just continues to create brands like Just Fab and KLS. Also, Kimora is from my hometown, which is inspiring.
I love to make my own clothes. I started a ready to wear clothing line called Olivia Rae Designs (ORD) so I like to wear a lot of pieces in my collections. But, when I'm not shopping in ORD, I shop at Francesca’s Collection and H&M.
I started a Fashion Club so that there would be an outlet for fashion lovers at my school. There was not a big fashion scene at my school, but thanks to FIDM Fashion Club for the past three years, it has grown in the school and community.
I love the fashion industry because the exaggerations on the runway decide what will be normal in society. Fashion is always changing and evolving this makes the industry very fun to keep up with. I just love the impact the fashion industry has on the world.
